Das Kunstmuseum Stuttgart zeigt vom 5. Mai - 7. Oktober 2012 die Ausstellung
„Rasterfahndung. Das Raster in der Kunst nach 1945.“
Rund 50 internationale Künstler und Künsterlerinnen befassen sich mit dem gestalterischen Potential der Rasterstruktur.
Das Raster bestimmt wie keine andere Struktur die Kunst des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts. In der konkret-konstruktiven Kunst wird das Raster wegen der formalen Strenge und als Wiederholungsprinzip geschätzt. Parallel dazu begreifen Künstler das Raster als gesellschaftliches Muster, das der Medienwelt, der Architektur, dem Städtebau oder der Datenerfassung zugrunde liegt. Viele junge Künstler unterscheiden heute aber nicht mehr zwischen diesen beiden Ansätzen, sondern sind von dem immensen gestalterischen Potenzial der Rasterstruktur fasziniert.
Zu sehen sind Arbeiten von (u.a.) About 50 international artists deal with the creative potential of the grid structure.
Like no other structure, the grid defines art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In concrete and constructivist art, the grid is appreciated for its formal severity and as a principle of repetition. Parallel to this, artists adopted the grid as a social model forming the basis for the media world, architecture, town planning, or data acquisition. Today many young artists no longer distinguish between these two approaches, but are fascinated by the immense creative potential of the grid structure.
